Between 20-23 September 2016 the consortium members organized the second workshop dedicated to the SafeShore project. The 4-day sessions were hosted by the Romanian Partners – UTI Grup, Protection and Guard Services, Institute of Optoelectronics – and were held in Romania, in Bucharest and Constanta. The workshop included the site survey of two Black Sea ports: Midia and Constanta.
The purpose of the site survey was to inform consortium members’ decision on which spot to select as SafeShore’s main system test area and to assess which one best fulfils the project’s requirements.
The SafeShore experts will develop a detection solution for drones that carry illegal substances, drugs or which can be used to launch attacks on critical infrastructures or humans. The system will also be able to detect small boats that transport people, explosives, etc. SafeShore aims at supplementing existing conventional detection systems operated by border police/coast guard along maritime borders.
On 22-23 September DronEast.EU took place in Constanta. The event, which included a drone air show, an exhibition and a conference, posed an excellent opportunity for SafeShore consortium members to gather information and to discuss with Romanian and foreign authorities, specialists in civil aviation and other related sectors topics related to the legal and regulatory framework for RPAS operation.
